Today’s vocal cord surgery was a success. By that, I mean that my doctor was able to do exactly what he planned to do without any complications. I have very little physical discomfort and have a great sense of relief that the procedure is over. The real success will happen post-op. The real success will happen by working with my speech/voice therapist in the next couple months and by maintaining Grand Silence for the next two weeks.
I’m still feeling pretty tired…we arrived at the hospital at 6am today. And despite a two-hour nap this afternoon, I’m not feeling on my writing game. Suffice it to say, today went even more smoothly than I could have imagined. I felt supported by wonderful friends, skilled medical professionals and a loving God.
When we arrived at the hospital this morning, my friend said, “Well, Therese Marie, after today, you’ll be in the solution.” I’m really grateful for that observation.
My surgery is over, and now I just need to focus on the solution…silence.
Thank you God! You got me right where you want me.
