The good news…I am allowed to talk ‘normally!’ According to the professional treatment plan document I was given, “The goal during this time is to return to a ‘normal’ amount of healthy voice use, which is approximately 5 mintes every 15 or 20 minutes.” Healthy voice use is a topic for another time, but for now, my voice therapist is pleased with my progress, and I can talk.
However, I have only been given clearance to engage in face-to-face conversations. I still cannot speak on the phone, and I definitely cannot sing. But, I feel like I’m moving in the right direction. I was really happy to learn that talking will not cause injury to my vocal cords at this point. That was a fear that had been looming during the last week. If I consciously apply all the things I’m learning, all should be well. I’ll fill you in on some of the things I’m learning, but for now, I’m feeling SUPER grateful!
Day #25 is ending and Week #4 is starting…both, I must say, on a very hopeful note!
Time to schedule a couple of those meetings I’ve been postponing.
